Nathalie Baer Chan

SHE/HER

I’m in my second-year of the Master of Social Work program at Columbia University, studying Advanced Clinical Practice with a specific passion for reproductive justice, sex therapy, and sexual education for all ages.

In the current model, we might receive sexual education as adolescents, but rarely see any follow up support throughout the rest of our life cycle.

Where has your information about sex come from? What questions do you have for me about it? What questions do you have for yourself to explore?

To me, sex therapy is about relationship to self and body, examining the meanings we might assign to intimacy, and getting curious about how social scripts in culture impact our emotional and sexual lives.

As a student and an intern, I am committed to working with clients to find therapeutic methods that work uniquely for them. Therapy is not something I possess and therefore give, it’s a space and a knowledge we build together.

Before Wise, I worked in immigration law supporting family, employment, and asylum cases, and then as a counselor at a youth center offering wraparound services. I am passionate about supporting individuals and partners during major life transitions, whether that be a birth, loss, a new diagnosis, or a surgery. I am committed to a trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ affirming, sex work positive approach, and am proud to offer cost-flexible services as a social work intern.

If you’re interested in working together, email me today, and we can find a time to meet and see if working together would be a good fit.
